2009 THEATRE RECOGNITION AWARDS
The following are our second annual AALM Recognition Awards (in no particular order). These are non-traditional awards that we give to people/theatre companies who by virtue of their talent, hard work, professionalism, and/or personality provide special POSITIVE contributions to the theatre community in Charlotte. We often forget to encourage and thank theatre people for all they do. So we hope these awards make you smile with recognition.

Lydia Arnold.
As president of the Metrolina
Theatre Association she has provided
necessary leadership that had been sorely
needed, and she receives no pay for her
trouble. Now that’s selfless! Thank you!!
Stan Peal & Epic Arts Repertory Theatre.
Playwright/director/producer/actor Peal and
company have given us many hours of
theatre pleasure. Their last production,
Dancing at Lughnasa, was outstanding.
We wish you well!
Machine Theatre. Matt Cosper and company
have started a new venture; we expect
great
things from them.
Actor's Theatre of Charlotte. No theatre
community is truly vital without new plays. Is
this how Louisville got started?
Jon Parker Douglas. Is great at...
everything. Phenomenal as Bat Boy. Wow!
Hank West. Not only is he an excellent
actor, he’s a genuinely kind person.
Kim Watson Brooks. Gets better and better.
Mike Snow. Knows his way around tools
and sets.
North Carolina Blumenthal Performing
Arts Center. They bring magnificent
Broadway shows to Charlotte.
Polly Adkins. A classy lady and talented
actor/director.
Annette Saunders. Is a pleasure to work
with and know.
Dennis Delamar. Plays well with others.
Billy Ensley. Doesn’t run with scissors.
ALL work hard. Special mention for
Davidson Community Players.
Professional, smart, and takes chances.
Elise Wilkinson. Producer/director/actor.
Women don’t get a chance to shine this
much, but she’s made her own opportunities.
Scott Pacitti. We suppose we can forgive
you for all those MTA emails.
Queen City Theatre Company. We admire
you. Keep entertaining us!
Alan Poindexter. He helps keep Children’s
Theatre nationally ranked.
Eddie Mabry & Ron Chisholm. It looks so
easy when you do it.
Marilyn & Nate Frenkel. They do a wonderful
service for the theatre community, she by
taking photos of productions, he by helping.
Quentin Talley. "Miles & Coltrane" goes
to The Fringe. Kudos to you!
Story Slam!. Mark Woods & company give us
hope for a more cohesive, progressive
"front porch" theatre community.
Collaborative Arts Theatre & Shakespeare
Carolina. Thank you for bringing the Bard
to our audiences.
Carolina Actors Studio Theatre. No one
works harder than CAST to get you in the
mood from the minute you walk in the door.
Citizens of the Universe. They will not be
stopped!
The Entire Theatre Community. Ponder the
sentiments of Robert Frost, “In three words I
can sum up everything I've learned about life:
it goes on.”
Congratulations to ALL!
